My path to interior design didn't start in a showroom-it started on a Ranch in East Texas. Growing up, my grandfather was a real estate investor who also raised Angus Cattle and believed deeply in the value of hard work.
By the time I was ten, my weekly chores involved helping him update his rental properties whenever a tenant moved out.
While my friends were hanging out, my teenage years were spent laying tile, hanging wallpaper, painting, and replacing light fixtures and faucets. I loved every single moment of it.
At the time, I didn't realize this passion had a name-or that it could be a career. That all changed the day I was flipping channels and discovered HGTV. Seeing legendary designers like Candice Olson, Christopher Lowell, and Cecil Hayes made everything click. I felt instantly validated knowing there were other people who shared my deep love for creating beautiful spaces.
A Detour into
High-End Events
Driven by that passion and a dream, I moved to Dallas after high school to attend The Art Institute of Dallas to study Interior Design. While there, my professor offered extra credit to students who helped with her weekend wedding planning business. At twenty-something, none of my friends owned homes yet, but they were getting married. What started as helping a few friends quickly word-of-mouthed into a top-rated event design company.
For 12 years, I poured my heart into producing, high-production events.
But constant weekend travel and heavy logistics eventually took their toll. I realized I was drifting away from the core of what I loved most:
Interior Design. After a heart-to-heart with my husband-and a bittersweet year fulfilling my final wedding contracts—| decided to pivot back to my true calling.
The Birth of KP Interior Design
In 2017, KP Interior Designs was born.
Today, I bring those decades of hands-on design, project management experience, technical training, and high-stakes event coordination into every home I design. Whether crafting custom virtual e-design plans or guiding full-scale renovations, 1 help busy homeowners create
functional, elevated spaces that tell their own unique stories.
When Karmen isn't designing, you'll usually find her with her husband, Eddie, exploring the local food scene. A total foodie at heart, she's constantly scrolling TikTok and Instagram for the newest dining hotspots and live music venues.
When it's time to chill, she's loves heading to her favorite local spots with her close-knit crew of friends— at Nick & Sam's, Le Margot, or The Vault
